Beauty Sleep?

In our quest for the proper amount of Joyceland beauty rest, we continue to research the topic of snoring.  Here is what Wikipedia teaches us about this unpleasant nighttime habit (our comments are added in italics):

  • Snoring is known to cause sleep deprivation to snorers and those around them (really?), as well as daytime drowsiness (Sorry, I can’t make the party because I need to take a nap!), irritability (What do you mean someone needs to grocery shop every week?), lack of focus (you now have the energy for only one party a day whereas you used to handle two or more), and decreased libido (a bad thing?).
  • Usually, snoring is recognized by a friend or partner who observes the patient sleeping (and then stays awake themselves all night doing a rain dance to the sounds of the white noise generator).
  • A number of other treatment options are also available, ranging from over-the-counter aids like nose clips (may potentially cut off breathing and kill the snorer–wait, is this not a good solution?) to such unusual activities as playing the didgeridoo, a wind instrument developed by Indigenous Australians.

After much consideration, we’ve decided that Spike will give the didgeridoo a try.  A 2005 study in the British Medical Journal teaches us that practicing the didgeridoo helps reduce snoring by strengthening muscles in the upper airway.  So, we’ll see how this goes.  Worst case scenario is that it won’t help with snoring, but Spike will be able to provide us with background music at our next Joyceland party with girlfriends.

So how do we maintain our beautiful Joyceland appearance considering the lack of sleep we’re experiencing?  Our first choice is to head to Gigi with Stillpoint Sherrie!  If we can’t secure an appointment at the last minute, we put out an all call to our Joyceland friends for a ‘Face Rejuvenating Party’.  And, of course, we use our Vita-Mix blender to whip up a Chocolate Fondue Facial for all who attend:

1/3 cup cocoa powder
3 tbsp. heavy cream
2 tsp. cottage cheese
¼ cup honey
3 tsp. oatmeal

Mix all ingredients together and try not to eat it all before applying.  Then relax–and this is important–for the entire day.  When finished, simply rinse off with warm water.  With our girlfriends nearby, the chocolate fondue on our faces, and Spike playing the didgeridoo in the background, we’re sure to feel refreshed in no time at all.

What are your tips for getting your Joyceland beauty sleep?
