Spirit Sunday Movie

Lordy, what a week!  We’re hearing wild tales from Joyceland friends—-tales of sick pets and kids off to college, elderly parents in the hospital, little kids crying because they don’t like their new teachers . . . teachers crying because of some of the little naughties they’ll have in class; bosses who are so damn bossy, people who think their house is a hotel and use way too many towels, and to Penny the mailperson we say this, “When exactly is our Vita-Mix going to be delivered???  We’ve been waiting in our cul-de-sac wearing our ‘Simply Vera Vera Wang 24 Hour Wear’ all week!  And to top it all off, we had to spend the better part of yesterday at Teddy’s funeral.  Remember what we say:  even in Joyceland life happens.

So here are our coping suggestions for this day:

  • do not shower; it is semi-dirty for you today and don’t argue with us about it
  • hide every towel in the house—if it’s no shower for you, it’s no shower for them, too
  • pretend you are a french foreigner and whenever someone speaks to you, look puzzled and say, “Pardonnez-moi, mais je ne comprend pas ce que vous dit!”

And it seems to us, since it’s Spirit Sunday, that a little movie is in order.  Don’tcha just love the movies?  Joyce loves nothing better than a bucket ‘o popcorn, lights out, movie time!!  Movies can give you a little escape, a little laugh, some beautiful people to look at, and a message or two, if you’re interested in that sort of thing.  So, here’s a beautiful little five minute film short (that’s what they call it in the biz) to inspire your inner Joyce.  It won ‘Best Short Story’ at the Cannes Festival in 2008:

And on Spirit Sunday, may all in Joyceland see the beauty.
